Planning Permission Granted

23 Jul 2014

Construction of the first phase of development of 900 new homes and facilities in Spencers Wood and Three Mile Cross, near Reading, will soon be underway. The planning proposals received approval from Wokingham councillors last year and the applicants have since been working with council officers to finalise the detailed agreement that has now led to the granting of the planning permission.

The homes are being brought forward by Taylor Wimpey West London and David Wilson Homes (Southern) who together have a strong reputation for quality, design and customer service; and who will provide a range of new starter and family homes, together with new affordable rented and shared ownership properties.

Infrastructure works are planned to commence later this year, with the first phase of 276 homes being commenced at Spencers Wood in the Spring and occupations anticipated from Autumn 2015.

The development will create extensive and accessible public open space, play areas and sports provision, together with new footpath and cycleway works and highway improvements.

In addition, significant contributions are to be made towards education, sports and community facilities; and to the Eastern Relief Road and new bus services within the area.

Phil Chapman, Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey West London said:

“We are looking forward to commencing work on the first phase of development at Spencers Wood. The project will not only provide much-needed high quality new affordable and private homes and important community facilities, but will also provide the local economy with a real boost through the creation of a number of jobs in construction and associated services.”

Paul Crispin, Managing Director of David Wilson Homes (Southern) said:

“Our business is expanding, built on our capability to deliver challenging projects on time. This site continues our heritage in Berkshire and the wider Thames Valley area, where we have a strong reputation for high quality developments. We will be providing a range of house styles from 2 – 4 Bed new homes, and will create a great place to live for both new home purchasers and the existing community.”
